CODE 2, VOL 30, NO 24 : 14 JUNE 2016

COMMUNITY SAFETY FOCUS IN 2016 QUEENSLAND STATE BUDGET

On Tuesday 14 June 2016 the Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Bill Byrne announced some funding positives for all UFUQ members as contained in the 2016-2017 state budget.

Whilst your union always strives for improvements to firefighter and fire communication officer recruit numbers, qualifications, support, safety and of course terms and conditions of employment, I welcome the announcements made by Minister Byrne today.

Here is a link to the announcement by the Minister.

Positives to be drawn are –

- Funding for FFF & RAAP
- Funding for the reserve roster, including additional firefighters
- Funding for new stations, station upgrades and new appliances and equipment across
  the state
- Funding for operational equipment, PPE & PPC

As you may be aware, the QFES budget ‘service delivery statements’ (SDS) were also published today.

A copy of the SDS can be found here.

I will keep Minister Bill Byrne and Treasurer Curtis Pitt informed about specific funding needs across Queensland for all UFUQ members.
