Safe Crewing Task Force - Call for input into Terms of Reference

As you are no doubt aware, your union successfully obtained provisions within the new agreement for a Safe Crewing Task Force (SCTF) (clause 12 of CA19).

Clause 12 of the agreement requires that a Terms of Reference (ToR) for the operation of the SCTF must be completed by 6 February 2020. I want to ensure that as many of you as possible have had the opportunity to discuss and provide input to the SCTF, and what it could potentially include in its ToR.

To enable this in the easiest and quickest way possible, I ask that UFUQ Branches, individual stations and fire communication centres, and specific work groups (for example Community Safety and Air Operations) that seek to provide input to the ToR send through your ideas to ca@ufuq.com.au before 6 January 2020.

In addition to canvassing the ideas sent to the state office, industrial officers of the state office will visiting selected UFUQ Branches and/or fire stations, communication centres and work groups across the state in the period 13-24 January 2020 (the tight timeframe will likely not permit all locations to be visited).

Following this, the state office will collate the ideas and present them to Fire and Rescue by 3 February 2020, to allow for agreement on the ToR before the 6 February deadline.  Clause 12 requires that the ToR must be ‘agreed’ between your union and Fire and Rescue.

The state office will respond directly to UFUQ Branches, fire stations, communication centres and specific work groups that send information into the dedicated email address and the industrial officers will visit as many locations as time permits.

The final ToR will be published to all members as soon as it is available and the agreement requires that the SCTF commence work in accordance with the ToR by 6 March 2020.
