September 11 Attacks - A day to remember

Sixteen years ago, 343 New York firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice.

Firefighters continue to put themselves in harm’s way to protect the lives of others. Today, people across the world will pause and recall the events of September 11 2001 and reflect on the sacrifice those New York firefighters made.

We should not let the memories of any fallen comrades fade.  I ask that you take the opportunity today to remember our fallen firefighters.

National Firefighters' Remembrance Day

On Tuesday 10th October 2017 firefighters, fire communication officers, family and friends will pay tribute to firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

These services commemorate the Queensland firefighters who have lost their lives while on duty, serving the community of Queensland since 1877.

I encourage members and their families wherever possible, to attend the services across Queensland.

I will provide more information on the remembrance services closer to the date.
