CONFIRMED LOCATION OF 100 FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS

You will recall that during the lead up to the 2017 State election, Premier Palaszczuk gave your union a commitment to fully fund an additional 100 firefighters and 12 fire communication officers on top of existing head count.

The Palaszczuk government was re-elected and the Premier made good on her commitment and those positions were fully funded. I take this opportunity to thank Premier Palaszczuk for following through on this commitment.

Below is a breakdown of where the 100 firefighters have been placed.

First 62 (decided in 2018) –
21 North Coast
(4 Maryborough, 12 Bundaberg, 5 Sunshine Coast)
5  Toowoomba
8  Townsville
5  Cairns
3  Tablelands
2  Innisfail
1  Charters Towers
1  Mt Isa
10 Gladstone
3  Rockhampton
3  Mackay

Final 38 (decided in 2020) –
Coolum Station moves from auxiliary to 5 day (with auxiliary support)
Yeppoon Station moves from 5 day to 7 day (with auxiliary support)
Warwick Station moves from 7 day to 10/14 (with auxiliary support)
Port Douglas Station moves from auxiliary to 5 day (with auxiliary support)
Airlie Beach Station moves from 5 day to 7 day (with auxiliary support)
Emerald Station moves from auxiliary to 5 day (with auxiliary support)
Kingaroy Station moves from auxiliary to 5 day (with auxiliary support)
Highfields Station gains a station officer (remains auxiliary station)
Dalby Station gains a station officer (remains auxiliary station)
