CODE 2, VOL 34, NO 1 : 17 january 2020

Your union has hit the ground running in the new year, with much work to be done on the evolution of CA19, working to fix the radios and the radio networks, working to get Fire and Rescue to start taking decontamination seriously, and so much more.

I welcome you to engage with your union in 2020, as there is much work to be done and the state office is always on the lookout for members who are ready to put their hand up and get involved.  Contact your union at
[email protected] if you’d like to get more involved at the station, branch or state level.

After some years of planning and an untold amount of money being spent, commencement of the new payroll system is imminent.  You would have recently received some correspondence from QFES about that.  Your union is hopeful the Aurion transition process is without incident.  Those in charge of this process have assured your union in correspondence and briefings that the process appears to be successfully transitioning. We are all watching closely.

However, on Monday 13 January, your union was informed that after the transition, you were no longer going to be emailed your payslips.

The payroll project people at QFES reported to the UFUQ that they thought it was appropriate for you to have to go into work on your days off, or when on leave, to download a payslip by logging into Aurion using one of the work computers.

I am pleased to report that due to some prompt and positive discussions between your union and the AC of HCM, you will not be required to go into a work location to obtain your payslip.

An agreement was reached where payslips will continue to be emailed to all of you.

What was also agreed was that work will be done to move to you being able to access the Aurion system on non-work computers. But that will take some time. So, until that happens, at some unknown point in the future, your payslips will be emailed to you as they always have been.

I will keep you informed of the progression of the payroll transition and also about the access to Aurion once that’s been worked out.
