CODE 2, VOL 34, NO 10 : 20 march 2020

COVID19 – UFUQ State Office Risk Controls

You are all well aware of the complex and rapidly evolving arrangements related to COVID19 being advised and/or prescribed by state and federal governments and chief medical officers.

As such, your union state office has had to consider how we will manage matters such as social distancing and prevention of community transfer and the executive has endorsed the following for UFUQ member contacts with the state office.

Until further notice, from Monday 23 March 2020, these arrangements will apply –

As you’re aware the 2020 Labour Day event has been cancelled and we will strive to make it bigger and better next year.

Any face to face meetings between UFUQ state office employees and officials, and either QFES and/or UFUQ members, will be minimised, with email and phone contact being the preferred methods adopted until further notice. That will naturally cause some unavoidable delays in progressing matters.

Visits to stations and communication centres by elected officials and industrial officers are to be minimised, with any requirement for meetings to be done via phone or video conferencing.

The QIRC remains open and functioning but all conferences and hearings are being done by phone.

If you need to contact your union state office –

• Membership enquiries, including, member fee payments, change of address and any other administrative matters.
Please email
[email protected]

• Working conditions, all other employment  enquiries.
Please email
[email protected]

Please provide your name, station, rank and details about the reasons for your contact when you email the state office. Please also ensure any relevant information is attached.

I want to assure you that all matters will be managed as normal as possible by your union despite these new conditions and I also acknowledge there may be a slight delay between your email contact and someone calling you or returning your email.

UFUQ Hotspot App – Time to download or Update!

During this unprecedented period of disruption to normal business as usual, it is more important than ever that you maintain contact with your union.

As such, it is now vital to either install or update your HOTSPOT UFUQ app on your smart phone.  All communications for the foreseeable future will be published to your emails, and to the app, and hopefully that way you will have access to all information your state office puts out.
