PRELIMINARY INFORMATION ABOUT UFUQ LOCAL BRANCH REPRESENTATIVE ELECTIONS

**THIS CODE 2 INCLUDES GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE UPCOMING ELECTION FOR UFUQ LOCAL BRANCHES AND DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO TAKE ANY ACTION.**

I provide the following information to all financial industrial members of the UFUQ regarding the upcoming process of electing Local UFUQ Branch Representatives, and advise that the processes the UFUQ intends to follow are in accordance with Rule 41 (Local Branch Representatives) and Schedule 1 (Election procedure Rules) of the Registered UFUQ Rules (you can find a copy of the Registered UFUQ Rules on the UFUQ website at ufuq.com.au).

UFUQ Rule 41 requires that elections for local branch representatives occur within six months of the SCM election declaration (the SCM results declaration was issued 4 May 2021), so the UFUQ has so far set the following dates for these elections.

NOMINATIONS OPEN

26 August

NOMINATIONS CLOSE

23 September

CANDIDATE WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE

30 September

BALLOT OPENS 

14 October

BALLOT CLOSES

11 November

The following existing fulltime firefighter local branches will be included in the election process, with each branch including the same President, Secretary, Officer and Firefighter Representative positions as before.

Beenleigh, Brisbane North, Brisbane South, Bundaberg, Cairns, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Mackay, Maryborough, Mount Isa, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Tablelands, Toowoomba, Townsville.

In addition to those existing firefighter local branches, the UFUQ Rules also now provide for the following new branches and positions.

Senior Officers Local Branch –
Branch President, Branch Secretary, Representatives x 2.

Auxiliary Local Branch (North) –
Branch President, Branch Secretary, Representative x 2.

Auxiliary Local Branch (South) –
Branch President, Branch Secretary, Representative x 2.

Fire Communications Officers Local Branch –
Branch President, Branch Secretary, Representative North x 2, Representative South x 2

This Code 2 is provided only to alert financial industrial members to the upcoming elections.  The next communication you will receive regarding these elections will be the formal NOTICE OF ELECTION and NOMINATION FORMS, which is scheduled to be sent to financial industrial members on 26 August 2021.

You are NOT required to do anything at this stage, as this email is just for your general information.  Upon receipt of the formal NOTICE OF ELECTION and the NOMINATION FORMS, you will be able to commence your engagement in the process as per the instructions that will be sent to you on 26 August.
