AUXILIARY UPDATE : 12 april 2017

Easter 2017

In the busy lives we all lead, it makes you realise how quickly the years are passing when milestones such as Easter roll around again.

If you are able to enjoy a rostered break this Easter, I hope you get some time with family and friends.

If you’re working, remember that all four days of Easter are now public holidays and your timesheet should be completed to reflect this.  I have written to you about that in a previous Code 2.

Either way, working or not, I hope it’s a quiet and safe Easter for all members.

Union Encouragement – Helmet Stickers

I am aware many of you have been proudly placing the annual UFUQ stickers on your helmets.

But I am also aware that certain Fire and Rescue management have been requiring stickers to be removed, and some even spending their paid time going from station to station and peeling the stickers off.

This attitude and stance is farcical and reveals those individual’s true feelings about the collective strength of your union.

We will continue to push for you to have the right to proudly display your union membership through placement of one official annual UFUQ sticker on your helmet.

This would be in line with the current ‘Queensland Government Commitment to Union Encouragement’ document, which states –
'Passive acceptance by agencies of…activity by unions does not satisfy the government’s commitment.
Encouragement requires agencies to take a positive, supportive role…’

You can find the union encouragement document here

I will keep you informed of our efforts and hope to resolve this helmet sticker matter quickly.
