CODE 2, VOL 34, NO 6 : 13 march 2020

COVID19

I am sure you are all well aware of the growing concerns in Australia relating to the potential effects of the Covid19 pandemic.

The UFUQ state office is monitoring Queensland Health Department advice and that of the chief medical officer.

I can also advise that your union has now (after asking to be involved and consulted) belatedly been invited to participate in state wide plans for response activities should you or your colleagues be isolated due to exposure and/or Covid19 illness.

Some Branches have already been asked to participate in what I consider to be rushed plans to attempt to maintain service delivery.  I ask that Branches continue to participate in those discussion in good faith.

You and your colleagues, in line with the requirements for Fire and Rescue, ought to follow the Queensland Health Department advice, which can be found
here.

If you have questions, please email your union at
ufu@ufuq.com.au and we will provide appropriate responses in line with the medical advice and the ongoing discussions with Fire and Rescue.

I have spoken with the Commissioner and advise I will update you as required after I have participated in meetings relating to plans to continue service delivery during periods when you and your colleagues may be isolated from work.
