SEND IN THE CLOWNS:
QFES RINGLEADERS PUSH TO MULTI-CLASSIFY OPERATIONAL ROLES

I am aware that under Cr Leach (and signed off by all sorts of people who should know better, or who do know better, and think they’re getting away with it) there is currently an explosion of attempts by certain senior One QFES managers to obtain dual classification of roles that were, are, or ought to be, purely Fire and Rescue professional firefighter classification.

This is a desperate attempt to get jobs for the boys and girls who aren’t professional firefighters wherever possible and public servants and other underqualified people from other services, locked into Fire and Rescue operational and non-operational roles.

It’s obvious what’s going on, and it’s embarrassing, and it’s wrong, and your union is taking action. Queensland communities will be compromised by this ideological attack on professional services being offered in emergency situations.

The current QFES three ring circus does not function, and when the acrobats, the lion tamers, the clowns and the elephant washers can all just swap jobs because they’ve got a driver’s licence and some mate in the system who can greenlight their career progression, it’s gone too far.  I’ll leave you to decide who is who in that scenario.

We need significant changes to the way fire and rescue is structured.  The changes will need to deal with this deliberate abandonment of putting those with actual knowledge, skills and experience into the right roles.

The public service corporatisation of your work is coming to an end.
