In this edition - I am pleased to report that a process that commenced over 18 months ago with your union’s submissions to the Independent Review of the Queensland workers’ compensation system concluded on Thursday 22 August 2024 with the Queensland Parliament passing many amendments to the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (Qld).

In this edition - You are likely to have seen or at least heard about the email from the ‘Organisational Development Branch’ advising QFES is conducting a ballot of all Firefighters and Station Officers about a consistent start and finish time to apply to all 10/14 stations. Apparently, this is organisational development!

In this edition - Today marks the one year anniversary of the certification of CA22. So whilst it’s important to note this passing of a full year since commencement, it’s hardly a cause for celebration.

Auxiliary Update 11 October 2023
In this edition - I am pleased to report that in June 2023 the Queensland Treasurer, the Hon Mr Cameron Dick, wrote to your union confirming an increase in accumulated benefit superannuation for all members employed under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990, due to the forced retirement age. Of course, this includes Auxiliary Firefighters.
