In this edition - There are complex investigations currently underway regarding the Slacks Creek Fire. Your union is involved in a range of ways but, I want to be clear, we cannot openly discuss matters in a Code 2 that will jeopardise these Investigations. In this edition - During my time as your UFUQ State Secretary a common discussion amongst you and your colleagues has been the forced cessation of your superannuation earning capacity as a result of being required to retire at 65. On that topic, I am pleased to finally be able to report to you today confirmation of an historic change in your superannuation which will take effect on 1 July 2023.

The UFUQ account I reported to you on 9 May in Code 2 Volume 37 Number 6, has garnered much positive response and I am pleased to report there is now over $24,000 to be shared between Izzy’s family and her partner Bec, and of course to Lia, who is continuing on her long road to recovery. We will have discussions with those people in the coming weeks about how that money will be distributed.
