v37#6 UFUQ FUNDRAISING FOR FF NASH AND SFF DREW - UPDATED
In this edition - Your union has received many contacts from members and others asking where money could be donated to assist FF Nash’s family and partner, and also SFF Drew’s recovery. In response to this, the UFUQ has taken the formal steps to establish a fundraising account.
v37#5 INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS DAY
In this edition - Today is International Firefighters’ Day. A day we stop to recognise and honour the sacrifices of our fallen comrades and the contributions of all current and former firefighters.
v37#4 VALE FF 1st CLASS IZABELLA ‘IZZY’ NASH
In this edition - I wanted to update members and our colleagues and friends in the firefighting community across Australia on the tragic death of our comrade and colleague FF 1st Class Izzy Nash (UFUQ member number 6057) who joined Fire and Rescue and her union in 2014.
v37#3 INJURED FIREFIGHTERS - UPDATE
In this edition - In the early hours of Monday 2 May 2023, two of your colleagues working together in a BA Team were injured (one of them critically) at a structure fire in the South East Region (Slacks Creek). QFES is keeping your union updated as things progress.

In this edition - Today the UFUQ state office held its first meetings with representatives from the Queensland state government, Workcover Queensland and other public sector unions, where discussions about the just announced review of Queensland’s workers’ compensation laws were held.
v37#1 17.5% PAYMENT - UPDATE ON QFES ERROR
In this edition - You will recall the UFUQ Code 2 dated 30 November 2022 about the QFES Grinch who tried to steal your union Christmas gift. You will also recall the QFES HR notification where QFES made mention of an ‘administrative issue’ with employees on higher duties and then advised that “the correctly adjusted calculation and application of the payment may result in an additional payment being made in a future pay cycle”.

AUXILIARY UPDATE
Auxiliary Update 19 July 2024
In this edition - A number of Auxiliary Firefighters have recently contacted UFUQ representatives and the state office about some potentially mistaken and inconsistent application across the state of the mandatory two-hour minimum payment provisions contained in Clause 22 of your award.
Auxiliary Update - 18 June 2024
In this edition - A reminder that your union fee statement will be emailed to your personal email address.
Auxiliary Update - 24 May 2024
In this edition - You will recall I advised you earlier this year of your 2023 wage rise. You will soon see an increase in your remuneration (for example hourly rate and annual retention allowances) by 5.75%. This increase is a result of the State Wage Case, run by Queensland Unions in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
Auxiliary Update - 02 April 2024
In this edition - Throughout the second half of 2023, your union provided multiple inputs (through the Queensland Council of Unions) to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) State Wage Case (SWC) hearings to ensure your work was considered by the QIRC in deciding on what wage rise (if any) to apply to Queensland Modern Awards for 2023.
Auxiliary Update - 29 March 2024
In this edition - With the Easter period, ANZAC Day and Labour Day almost upon us, I provide the following to UFUQ Auxiliary Firefighter members to clear up any confusion that may exist regarding what you are entitled to claim on the many upcoming public holidays.
