In this edition - FUNDRAISING FOR IZZY AND LIA CONTINUES The UFUQ account I reported to you on 9 May in Code 2 Volume 37 Number 6, has garnered much positive response and I am pleased to report there is now over $24,000 to be shared between Izzy’s family and her partner Bec, and of course to Lia, who is continuing on her long road to recovery. We will have discussions with those people in the coming weeks about how that money will be distributed.

In this edition - I, along with the UFUQ State Office staff and many colleagues from across BR, SWR, SER and beyond will attend the memorial service for our fallen friend and colleague FF Izzy Nash.

In this edition - Your union has received many contacts from members and others asking where money could be donated to assist FF Nash’s family and partner, and also SFF Drew’s recovery. In response to this, the UFUQ has taken the formal steps to establish a fundraising account.

In this edition - Today is International Firefighters’ Day. A day we stop to recognise and honour the sacrifices of our fallen comrades and the contributions of all current and former firefighters.

In this edition - I wanted to update members and our colleagues and friends in the firefighting community across Australia on the tragic death of our comrade and colleague FF 1st Class Izzy Nash (UFUQ member number 6057) who joined Fire and Rescue and her union in 2014.

v37#2 UFUQ PUSH TO INCREASE NUMBER OF DISEASES COVERED BY PRESUMPTIVE WORKCOVER LAWS

In this edition - Today the UFUQ state office held its first meetings with representatives from the Queensland state government, Workcover Queensland and other public sector unions, where discussions about the just announced review of Queensland’s workers’ compensation laws were held.
