v37#22 2024 DIARIES AND CALENDARS
In this edition - Your 2024 diaries and calendars will be mailed out in late December.
v37#21 QFES DRAWS CLOSER TO EXTINCTION
In this edition - Your union has been working hard for an end to the QFES circus, through the establishment of the new Queensland Fire Department and a return to fire and rescue operations being the focus of that new department.
v37#20 FIRE SERVICE UNABLE TO PROVIDE PAYMENT INFORMATION ON CA22 ALLOWANCES!
In this edition - Members who work at live fire campus or as DMO’s have rightly been asking when their allowances and provisions arising from CA22 might commence, given the agreement was certified in May 2023.
v37#19 INCREASED SUPERANNUATION PAYMENTS: COMMENCEMENT DATE CONFIRMED
In this edition - You will recall I reported to you all that in June 2023 the Queensland Treasurer, the Hon Mr Cameron Dick, wrote to your union confirming an increase in accumulated benefit superannuation for all members employed under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990 due to the forced retirement age.
v37#18 FIREFIGHTERS’ REMEMBRANCE DAY
In this edition - Firefighters Remembrance Day is honoured every year on October 10, with flags at all fire stations flown at half-mast and a minute's silence observed at 10am. For those at station, a siren blast from your appliance for 10 seconds is also fitting at the conclusion of the minute silence.
v37#17 QLD WORKCOVER REVIEW REPORT RELEASED: INCLUDES RECOMMENDATION TO INCREASE LIST OF DEEMED DISEASES
In this edition - The Queensland government has released the final report of the independent review into the operation of Queensland’s workers’ compensation scheme.
v37#16 QFES COMMISSIONER RESIGNS
In this edition - On behalf of members, I acknowledge Commissioner Leach’s work in the role since his appointment in 2019. I personally thank the Commissioner for his candid engagement with me on your behalf on the range of difficult challenges that faced him in his tenure.

AUXILIARY UPDATE
Auxiliary Update - 06 June 2023
In this edition - Despite many months of requests, the project team responsible for the development of the new availability and tracking app designed for use by auxiliary firefighters has chosen to say nothing and deliberately keep your union in the dark about the app.
Auxiliary Update - 25 January 2023
In this edition - Today the UFUQ state office held its first meetings with representatives from the Queensland state government, Workcover Queensland and other public sector unions, where discussions about the just announced review of Queensland’s workers’ compensation laws were held.
Auxiliary Update - 19 December 2022
In this edition - The silly season is upon us once again and on behalf of the UFUQ I wish every member a safe and Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.
Auxiliary Update - 1 December 2022
In this edition - Public Holidays 2022/2023
Auxiliary Update - 31 August 2022
In this edition - Your union will consult with QFRS to ensure this wage and allowance rise is promptly processed and I’ll report back when QFRS and QSS give an indication of when you will start to see your increases.
