AUXILIARY UPDATE : 10 september 2018

Wage Rise for all auxiliary firefighters from 1 September 2018

I am pleased to advise you that on 29 August 2018 the QIRC published their Decision on the annual State Wage Case.

Your union made submissions (through our affiliation with the Queensland Council of Unions) to the QIRC on behalf of all auxiliary members, advocating for this pay rise.

As your employment is covered by an award, you will receive a 3.5% pay rise to your hourly base rate and a 3.5% increase to your allowances from 1 September 2018.

The QIRC will publish a new copy of your Award in the coming weeks, and I will report to you again when they have provided the new minimum rates.

I again remind you that your annual pay rises are no longer dependent upon what the permanent firefighters are paid.  You have your own award, and this is one of the benefits of having that industrial coverage.

You can expect the pay increases to commence in your first pay after 1 September 2018, or for backpay to be paid soon thereafter if QFES and QSS have not sorted out your new rates of pay in time.
