AUXILIARY UPDATE : 11 october 2024

3.75% WAGE RISE FOR AUXILIARY FIREFIGHTERS

Just a short update to advise that following work by your union through the Queensland Council of Unions state wage case application and hearings, the QIRC has announced there will be a 3.75% wage rise to all auxiliary firefighter wage rates.

That 3.75% will also increase some of your allowances by the same amount, being –
15.1       Captain’s allowance
15.3       On call allowance
15.4       Retention allowance

Your motor vehicle allowance (15.2) will also be adjusted in accordance with the CPI.

The commencement date for the new rates is 1 September 2024, so you will receive an appropriate amount of backpay from QFD once they’ve managed to go through the process of adding the increase to your wages. This has mysteriously taken QFD and QSS some months in previous years, so don’t hold your breath, but your union will keep pushing for these changes to occur as quickly as possible.

I will update you when I have more information on the QFD/QSS plan to amend and backpay your wages.
